Challenge: In an increasingly digital world, the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union recognized the critical need to enhance their staff’s awareness and understanding of cybersecurity threats. They sought to empower their employees with the knowledge and skills to protect sensitive organizational and member data from evolving cyber risks.
Our Solution: Proswift Technologies designed and delivered a comprehensive, interactive cybersecurity training program for UNMU staff in 2023. Our approach went beyond traditional lectures, focusing on active engagement:
We tackled a diverse range of critical cybersecurity topics relevant to modern organizations, including phishing, strong password practices, data handling best practices, recognizing social engineering, malware prevention, and secure remote work habits.
The training incorporated a dynamic question-and-answer (Q&A) approach, actively involving employees in discussions and encouraging them to voice their concerns and experiences. This fostered a highly participatory environment, ensuring concepts were clearly understood and directly applicable to their daily roles.
Practical scenarios and real-world examples were used to illustrate potential risks and effective countermeasures, making the training relatable and impactful.
Impact: The cybersecurity training session significantly boosted the cybersecurity literacy of UNMU employees. Staff members gained a deeper understanding of organizational cybersecurity policies and their individual responsibilities in maintaining a secure digital environment. The interactive Q&A format ensured that specific concerns were addressed, leading to enhanced vigilance and a more robust human firewall within the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union. This initiative directly contributed to strengthening UNMU’s overall data protection posture.
